About Us

Our Mission
Rising Abilities was founded in 2011 by parents of children with special needs who dedicated their mission to providing community inclusion, educational activities, and social interaction. Our organization also offers educational assessments, sensory evaluations, and help families and caregivers find the resources needed to increase their quality of life. We want to empower families by giving them the knowledge needed to self-advocate while enhancing each individual's capabilities and daily living skills.
Founder of Rising Abilities
In 2011, Angela St. Joan founded this nonprofit organization as a way to help others like herself and her son, AJ, who was diagnosed with classic autism at the age of 2. In need of a social outlet for both her and her family, she created Rising Abilities as a way to include others who were "in her shoes". She knew her son was just as capable as others. He only needed a way to express and enjoy himself in his own unique way. Many others felt the same and have been so supportive in volunteering their time, resources, and donations. Many friendships have been made along the way.
What We Do
Rising Abilities is a nonprofit organization serving children and adults with special needs in Missouri. Activities are planned with each person's special abilities in mind. We offer educational, sensory, social, and daily living skills activities while enjoying fun social interactions.
