Rising Abilities was founded in 2011 by parents of children with special needs, who dedicated their mission to provide community inclusion, educational activities, and social interaction for these youth and their families/caregivers. Our organization also offers educational assessments, sensory evaluations, and linking to resources to increase quality of life and empower these children while enhancing individual capabilities and daily living skills.
Founder of Rising Abilities
In 2011, Angela St. Joan founded this nonprofit organization as a way to help others like herself and her son, AJ, who was diagnosed with classic autism at the age of 2. In need of a social outlet for both herself and her family, she created Rising Abilities as a way to include others who were "in her shoes". She knew her son was just as capable as others and just needed a way to express and enjoy himself in only the ways he knew how and could tolerate. Many others felt the same and have been so supportive in volunteering their time, resources, donations, and many friendships have been made along the way.
What We Do
